Today was an OPEN CUPBOARD COLLECTION DAY! Thank you, generous donors, and also Dennis, who again delivered the goods to their destination!
On this day, President Paul inducted another new member, Christian (Chris) Buzzanca, whose business, Economic Planning Group, is located at 1303 Main St., Suite C, in Port Jeff, and who is, like his mentor Judi, a longtime active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America (Suffolk). Welcome, Chris!
We also welcomed as a guest Prospective Corporate Member Michelle Cruz, Ass't. Mgr. of the People's United Bank, Port Jeff Harbor Branch.

ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS: ***NEXT TUESDAY, 9/17, there will be NO MEETING at Cafe Spiga. Instead, on Thursday, 9/19, we hope to see all club members and their guests at Savino's Hideaway, where we will participate in our Annual Past Presidents' Dinner and Raffle Drawing, and will joyfully celebrate Michael's two years at the helm of our club and Al Kopienski's 60th year as a Rotarian! ***Judi asks that prior to the dinner each club member who hasn't yet done so deliver a bottle of wine to her a.s.a.p. as a donation to our 7th Raffle Prize: The Wine Basket. Ya gotta be in it to win it!*** Paul invites you to attend the next Executive Committee Meeting this Friday, 9/13, at his office, beginning at 7:30 AM.It's not too late to plan to attend the BSA Cigar Event at the Old Field Club on 9/17 , beginning at 6 PM. The joy-filled evening, which includes dinner, Scotch, and wine- in addition to the cigars- will cost $150 p/p.Our Donations Committee is planning to allocate funds to help survivors in The Bahamas. We will probably purchase a shelter box. It is expected that Rotary International will also be helping out with the recovery there. Pat, who has spent many, many hours working at the Chandler Estate Park, says that he looks forward to getting help from local Boy Scout troops,other youth groups,and also from many of YOU, helping to keep the area neat and to prepare it for the colder weather to come. He would love to see YOU on Sunday, 9/22,beginning at 7:30 AM- meeting at the Estate's shed armedwith metal rakes & work gloves,and wearing long sleeves and socks that can cover pants bottoms. Rakers and re-seeders will be clearing paths and preparing the field for future use.All members are invited to attend the 10/26 Rotary Leadership Institute in Melville. Contact Paul for more info.Judi invites you to join her at her home on Fri.,10/4, at 4:30 PM for "An American Octoberfest"- the opportunity to celebrate the return visit of Wenzel Blaschke, who first arrived as an exchange student in 1988, and who returns as often as he can. This time, Wenzel will be bringing members of his family. This happy event will count as our weekly meeting. Meanwhile, Paul reminds you that on 10/15, the DG will visit with us at Cafe Spiga. Please plan to attend and welcome him to our midst.Michael S. and Kevin are the process of planning our Annual Ski Trip. Michael calls this year's event "the deal of a lifetime". The cost of $240 per couple will include, Wed.-Sat., a room, breakfast, happy hour, and 1 dinner at The Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, NH. The hotel has indoor and outdoor heated pools and is near 3 great ski areas, where lift tickets will be discounted, especially for Sr. citizens and kids. The date has yet to be chosen and will depend on the preference of the participants. The choices: the 1st week in January or the last week in February (after Presidents' Day Week). If you intend to take advantage of this opportunity, please contact Michael or Kevin, and let your date choice be known ASAP. Will you be attending "Autumn Splendor", the annual fundraiser that benefits the Parish Social Ministry, to be held on 11/2 at The Waterview at the Port Jeff Country Club from 7-11 PM? The cost is $125 p/p and will include a sumptuous harvest dinner, live music, raffles, a silent auction, and more. Paul hopes that our club can provide a good number of attendees, especially as we expect to present another "Can Do Award" at this event.
