News of the Meeting of September 14th

Today at Cafe Spiga, Pres. Rob hosted 6 members.  We presume that the rest of you took a respite day following Sunday's amazing fundraiser.  Know that I have counted today's meeting as a make-up day for the 27 members not present today but who worked at or on the Golf Outing.

Rob pronounced the 4th Annual Putt & Pub Crawl a resounding success.  He thanked all participants, and especially praised the planners, the workers, and the donors.  While the final figures are not yet in, so far, it looks like our total revenue was $18,680, while our net was $12,194.  We will probably know the final amounts by our next meeting.  Rob expressed amazement by how much work was actually involved in this enterprise.

At today's meeting, members reviewed/critiqued our weekend event. It was agreed that all participants seemed to much enjoy themselves, with many indicating their happy anticipation of our next golf outing.  Yet, our members made a number of suggestions on how to improve on this activity in the future. Among them: that we hold the event in the winter, when village businesses will best benefit and more participants will need and be looking forward to an awesome outdoor/indoor adventure; we should be sure to include all of our members in this activity by having them choose what they will/can do or by assigning each a function; we must start much earlier in the planning of the event so as not to be in a last minute rush to complete essential tasks; we need to have all threads tied up well before the event- with all hands on deck; and we should simplify some aspects (ie., cutting down on the number and/or costs of raffle baskets and prizes). At a future meeting (a Club Assembly ?), members will again have the opportunity to make suggestions to help perfect our event.

Our 5th Annual Putt & Pub Crawl will take place sometime this winter at a time and date TBA.

Our next social event is fast approaching: The Past Presidents Dinner on Tuesday,9/28 at Savino's Hideaway. You paid for this dinner for yourself and a guest when you paid your dues. Have you RSVP'd to Sharon?  If not, please do so ASAP.

Sgt. Debbie did a great job stumping us with her questions, most of which had to do with our golf outing and its participants, and a few others having to do with Rotary International. (Can you name RI's current President?  Do you know where the next Annual RI Conference will be held?)  Deb collected many dollars today, including "happy dollars".  Yay, Deb!

THANK YOU,ONE AND ALL, FOR MAKING OUR 4th ANNUAL PUTT&PUB CRAWL AN AWESOME EVENT!
