News of the Meeting of February 1st

This was a general meeting, hosted by President-Elect Michael Burghardt.  Here are his notes:
1, The Donation Committee was requesting suggestions on organizations to consider for donations.  If anyone has any ideas, please send their ideas to the Donation Committee.  Al Kopcienski had an idea and was going to contact Archana to discuss.
2. Rebecca Kassay will be setting up the Super Bowl Fundraiser for our club once again this year.  Boxes were $20 each last year, but will increase to $25 this year.  Rebecca will draft an e-mail outlining the details of this fundraiser and send it to the Rotarians.
3. Rebecca mentioned that the Asian Jade Society has 1,200 pieces of hand sanitizer that they would like to donate to the Rotary.  Dennis Brennan volunteered to speak to District leadership to see what can be done with this donation to promote Rotary International.
4. Rebecca mentioned that she e-mailed a survey to each Rotarian with regards to volunteering at the golf event on April 9, 2022.  She received 18 completed surveys thus far.  The results of these surveys will be discussed at the February 8, 2022 meeting.
5. Bingo Fundraiser- Sal, Kim, and Rebecca will facilitate this event again in 2022.  More information to come shortly.
6. Savers- Cindy presented regarding this program.  The Rotary would schedule a day and time to drop hard and soft goods off to Savers. Soft goods, such as a bag of clothes, are credited at 20 cents per pound.  Hard goods, such as dishes, pots, and pans are 2 cents per pound.  Savers collected from Wednesday to Saturday, but all Saturdays are booked through April.  The thought would be to collect items and have a group drop off the items on our scheduled day.  This is an opportunity to make some money for the club while getting rid of items that can be used by someone else in need.  The goal would be to collect over 100 bags.  More information to come.
7. A suggestion was made to add an item of "Sick and Hospitalized Members" to the meeting agenda each week.  It was felt that our club can do a better job of reaching out to Rotarians who are ill.
8. There was no presentation for this week's meeting- it was a Club Assembly.  The members present were asked if they had anything they would like to discuss.  A conversation took place about Membership, specifically regarding attendance requirements.  The group felt that the attendance requirements need to be re-evaluated and enforced.  Furthermore, the group discussed the formation of a Membership Committee to identify new members and enforce attendance requirements with existing members.  Michael B., Sal, and Rebecca volunteer to join Tara on this Membership Committee to strategize both the attracting of new members as well as energizing and retention of current members.  This topic was requested to be referred back to the Board for discussion and resolution.
