News of the Meeting of October 11th:

Today was an OPEN CUPBOARD COLLECTION DAY. Thank you, donors, and especially Dennis, who collected and delivered the goods to their destination.
This was, more or less, a Club Assembly Day- a good time to review recent club activities and socialize a bit more than usual. Those who attended the evening gathering on Oct.6th at Crazy Fish seemed pleased with both the event and the venue. Our next meeting, to be held at Cafe Spiga on 10/18, Tuesday, will be held jointly with members from neighboring clubs. Our guest speaker: the District Governor. Please make every effort to attend this special meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS: There's now $349 in the pot waiting to be won. YOU could still win it. Next opportunity: our 9/18 luncheon at Cafe Spiga. ***Plan to meet DG MJ when she visits us on 10/18. This will be a joint meeting attended by the Stony Brook, Rocky Point, and Middle Island clubs, as well as our own. Here's a last  invitation to attend the District Conference at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, NJ from October 13th-16th. Registration is still open. Contact Archana a.s.a.p. for more info. *Please note that the District is requesting that every Rotarian donate a check for $26.50 made out to The Rotary Foundation- a final push to eradicate Polio.The next Rotary Leadership Institute will be held at the Melville Marriott on 10/22, 7:30AM to 4 PM. Join Archana & Debbie in this very educational endeavor. Registration is still open. Please note this  date for our annual Fall Cleanup at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck: November 13th- 9AM to 12:30PM.  Dennis invites you to bring a rake to donate to the camp. The District is looking for Assistance in Haiti. Specific info.will follow soon. We received a Thank You letter from Friends of Karen for our recent donation of back-to-school back packs. Ed announced that we'll soon have new members joining our club.  Look forward to welcoming soon David Gelfond, a Port Jeff resident whose vocation is Commercial Real Estate (and who found us on FaceBook!), and Corporate Members from St. Charles: Marilyn Fabbricante, Ron Weingartner, Lisa Mulvey, and John Perkins, Jr. We've received an invitation from a recent guest speaker to attend Breathe Meditation & a Keynote on Nutrition and Creating a Life Style of Wellness. This event will take place on Saturday, 10/29,at Danford's Inn & Spa, 2-3:30 PM. The $40 p/p cost of attendance includes a healthy High Tea Menu.
