News of the Meeting of July 7th

Today was Rob Dooley's inaugural meeting as our Club President.  After welcoming those members who were able to join us via Zoom, Rob thanked Past President Paul for his efforts on behalf of our club and pledged to keep us actively involved in helping as many people as possible throughout the year locally, nationally, and internationally.
In announcing his plans for 2020-2021, Rob noted that he wants emphasize bringing help to nonprofits, which have been so adversely affected by Covid-19. Many of these organizations have seen their usual sources of funding dry up.  He proposes that we help them by throwing an additional fundraiser or two in their name or help them with one of their fundraisers, and include schools, colleges, and universities in our efforts.  By allying with educational institutions, we can help students learn civic responsibility; and once college grads have achieved some measure of success, we can point them in the direction of community service.  Rob would like to arrange mentorships in schools and with other nonprofits.  He sees all kinds of opportunities to network and would like us to reach out to other Rotary Clubs to work together towards positive change.
NEWS & INFORMATION HIGHLIGHTS:  The next Executive Board Meeting will be held on Friday, July 17th at 8:00 AM via Zoom.  All club members are invited to attend and participate.  Contact Rob for further information.
Plans for the Past Presidents' Dinner are a work in progress.  Final decisions as to event site and time will be announced imminently.  Stay tuned...
Rebecca praised Sal for his updates of the Club's website and looks forward to being able to contact club members individually via the site.
Cindy announced that she will be attending the RYLA meeting tomorrow, July 8th, at 6 PM and looks forward to learning how to create a more vibrant RYLA.  She will report on the meeting next Tuesday.

Dawn thanked club members for their warm welcome at last week's gathering.  She offered a suggestion on to how to aid nonprofits by using online silent auctions as future fundraisers.
Rob will look into using more group emails to keep our members aware of club actions and activities.  He suggested that future Zoom meetings may alternate between 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM as meeting starting times.
