Today was an Open Cupboard Collection Day. Thank you, donors, and especially Dennis, who delivered the goods to their destination!

On this Valentine's Day, we honored 6th grader Brady DeWitt (a grandson of Dick Lusak!) as our Most Motivated Student of the Month. Brady was accompanied to our luncheon by his science teacher, Janelle Bellotti, his proud parents, and members of his extended family- including his grandparents, as well as by PJ School District's Dr. Bob Neidig and Sean Leister. Bob introduced Brady and listed the many attributes of this youngster that show why he was chosen to receive this award. An active member of the yearbook club and student council, Brady boasts a GPA in the high 90's, and is noted for his positive attitude, readiness to learn, and willingness to contribute in class. Among the many positive words used by his teachers to describe Brady, he was referred to as kind, polite, hard-working- often going above and beyond what's required, helpful to all, and a great role model for his peers. Bob concluded his remarks with a quote by World Champion Race Car Driver Mario Andretti, "Desire is the key to motivation, but it's determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal- a commitment to excellence- that will enable you to attain the success you seek", and directed Brady to keep up the great work.

We were also pleased to welcome a number of other guests, including the Director of the Emma Clarke Library (Setauket)- and enjoyed hosting the capacity crowd.

More info will be shared soon...The Rotary Club of Seatuck Cove invites you to its Antiques & Collectible Appraisal Day on Saturday, February 25th, 9 AM to noon at South Bay Bible Church, 578 Montauk Hwy., in East Moriches. You may bring up to 5 items per person, and there's a suggested donation of $5 per item. (If the merchandise is too large to transport, please bring photos.) The District will sponsor its next TGIAF social networking opportunity on Wednesday, February 22nd, 5:30-7:30 PM at a location TBA. Also, the District is seeking nominations for representatives on the Council for Legislation for RI. The deadline is tomorrow, 2/15. Our next Stuff-A-Van is on March 4th from 10 AM to 1 PM. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Kings Park is sponsoring an "End Hunger in Kings Park" event on April 19th at Kings Park HS from 2:30-4:30 PM. The cost of participation is $40 per volunteer. You are invited to attend The Gift of Life Dinner Dance on May 10th, 6:30-10:30 PM. This Black-Tie-Preferred (or business suit) event, to be held at the Timber Point Country Club (398 Great River Rd.) in Great River, will cost $100 per person in advance, or $110 at the door. The guest speaker will be Robert Raylman. Bob Huttemeyer and Michael toured the Sunshine Alternative Education and Prevention Center facility on Boyle Rd. in Port Jeff Sta. and found lots of work that we can do there to help refurbish the place. Plans for performing a volunteer work detail will be presented soon. ***Please save this date: May 21st. That's when we will have our Annual Spring Clean Up at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck. Once again, in addition to performing our usual chores, we will be renewing table tops. Prepare for a fun time! Another invitation to remember: On Wednesday, May 17th, the District will hold its Centennial Celebration at Whitby Castle in Rye, NY.
