Today we met again via Zoom at 5:30 PM, with Paul hosting. Twelve of our members were able to attend this virtual meeting, including Bob, who joined us from South Carolina. Paul opened the meeting by announcing that Board positions needed to be established and voted on by month's end. President Elect Rob Dooley, who will become Club President in July, nominated the following members, who graciously accepted: President Elect- Mike Burghardt; Secretary: Sal Filosa; Treasurer: Nancy Uzo; Membership Chair: Tara Scully; and Program Chair: Bob Huttemeyer. If other club members would like to nominate any other individuals for any position, please do so by our next meeting. Contact Paul with the name of the individual and the position in which you see them excelling. Also, if you with to volunteer for a position, please let Paul know. All input is welcome. Paul and Rob hope that the Board members- new and veteran- will come to their positions/duties expecting to enjoy what they are doing. Bob asks for members' help in seeking future speakers. If you know people who would be interested in giving brief presentations on any subject that you think would attract member interest, please let him know a.s.a.p. Pat reported that there was graffiti marring our bus stop, so he cleaned it off and repainted the structure where needed. It looks great again. Bravo, Pat! Bob reminded Mike to check with Danfords soon about their role in our 2021 Winter Golf Classic. Paul announced that (tentatively) the Past Presidents Dinner will take place in Al's barn. Date still TBA. The RYLA Committee, chaired by Cindy, needs additional committee members. Cindy spoke about the many time-consuming (though rewarding) activities in which she has already participated and finds it rather exhausting to do on her own. She spoke of attending 10 hours of video events on one day and more the next. Thirty-one students have applied to be RYLArians, including PJHS's Mattea Rubino. There were many Zoom meetings and interviews involved. Mattea will be representing Port Jeff at the 2021 RYLA Conference. Cindy was amazed at this young lady's poise as she gave an incredible presentation worthy of an adult "star". Please contact Cindy if you can work with her as a volunteer. Coming up: the RYLA Fashion Show, RYLA Weekend, Summer Program, etc. Cindy is seeking help also from the high school teachers such as Deirdre Filippi. Paul has proposed an evening OUTDOOR meeting on June 30th. If you wish to be a volunteer host, let Paul know. Cheers! |
