News of the Meeting of July 23rd

Today, President Paul  began our meeting with a moment of silence in memory of Robert Grable, beloved Principal of Mt. Sinai High School, who passed away suddenly last week.
Paul presented on behalf of our club a Certificate of Appreciation to Michael Philbrick, owner of the Port Jefferson Brewery, for serving as a sponsor of our Winter Golf Outing.  Paul explained what effect the village business sponsors like him, who generously participated in this important fundraiser, had on village residents by enumerating how we spent much of the money raised to help (and also honor) local students, residents in need, service and civic organizations and deserving causes of all sorts.
Together with Membership Chair Michael Burghardt and club Past President Michael Sceiford, Paul presided over the Induction of our newest member, Rebecca (Becky) Kassay, owner of a Bed and Breakfast in the village.  She is about to embark on her filming project focusing on unsung volunteers and volunteer groups (including Rotarians), as she travels up and down the east coast.  The completed project is expected to be shared on Amazon Prime.  Rebecca will also soon be traveling to China, sponsored by Model UN, as a sort of good will ambassador.
Debbie Kneidl, from Maryhaven Center of Hope, was another of our guest visitors today.
