Today we had the pleasure of welcoming not one but two P.J. Middle School students in order to present each with a Most Motivated Student of the Month Award. Sixth grader Michelle Wu was selected by her teachers to be honored for the month of April. She was accompanied by her dad as well as by her math teacher, Megan Ryan. Seventh grader Kasey Cobb, who was accompanied by social studies teacher Philip Giannusa, was cheered on by his parents when he was presented with the May award. The district's Sup't. of Schools, Dr. Paul Casciano, and fellow-Rotarian and Middle School Principal, Dr. Bob Neidig, also celebrated the special qualities of these two youngsters. Bob presented each student to the gathering and gave insight into why they deserve to be honored. Both students boast "tremendously high GPA's", but in addition to being fine scholars, each was lauded for being especially positive, kind, hard-working, and humble. Michelle, an "absolute pleasure to have in class", was described as always smiling, extremely dedicated- with an incredible work ethic; and she is always willing to help classmates (and her teachers, as well). Kasey was described as being a delightful young man- an "incredibly conscientious" and highly self-motivated student who is, in addition, a quiet, responsible leader. Kasey is also admired for his maturity and possession of an impressive work ethic and attitude. Bob concluded his remarks by thanking these two students for setting such high personal standards for themselves and congratulated them for meriting their awards.
We also welcomed several other guests: Adam Matros brought with him a colleague named Brian from People's United Bank; and Kathy Taveira brought Christine, her colleague from BNB Bank.
