News of the Meeting of January 21st

Today, in Paul's absence, Mike presided over the meeting, and was also the day's featured speaker.  In addition, as Immediate Past President, Mike took the responsibility of inducting Micah Schlendorf, Branch Sales Director of the Suffolk Federal Credit Union, as our newest club member.

Mike next reviewed the plans for Saturday's Winter Golf Classic and noted what still needs to be done to assure a most memorable and profitable event.  Four volunteers are still needed to watch event holes; and non-club members (your friends, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, etc.) are welcome to perform this function.  Substitutes are also being sought as back-ups on all 9 holes and at the Halfway House. Contact Becky with names of new and old volunteers.  Additional volunteers are welcome to help out at Danford's at the beginning and especially the end of the Putt & Crawl- probably beginning at 4 PM, when the golfers begin their return to that venue for the event's party/awards/auction activities. We are reminded that all stuff to be raffled are due at Erika's office by Thursday the 23rd, at which time Joan, Erika, and others will perform their magic, creating beautiful baskets of goodies that attract our raffle buyers.  YOU are invited to help work on the baskets from 11:30-5 PM at Erika's.  All members should continue to sell Tee-signs through Friday.  We are still accepting golfing foursomes, twosomes, and singles (so far 177 have signed up!).  Let's use every opportunity in the next few days to advertise our community event,  bring in raffle items, possibly build our membership, and spread the understanding of what Rotary is and does for our community and the world.  Meanwhile, check out the Newsday article about our 3rd Annual Village Putt & Crawl and share it with as many people as you can.  Mike thanked profusely all members for their efforts  (physical, monitary, emotional, etc.) which will assure the success of this amazing event.
